Welcome to SIRAP PUBLICATIONS and the Catholic School Educators’ Journal.
After three years of research, consultation and editing, the Catholic School Educators’ Journal was first published in 2010 and quickly gained recognition as a valuable planning and programming tool for teachers in Catholic schools. The journal is used in schools throughout Australia.
To our knowledge, the Catholic School Educators’ Journal is the first daily planner/programme for class teachers and school leaders specifically designed for use in Catholic Schools, with features that enable classroom teachers to develop an R.E. program based firmly on the faith, traditions, life and practices of the Catholic Church.
With a combined fifty years experience in classroom teaching, Religious Education Coordination and whole school leadership, the authors provide classroom teachers and all educators in Catholic Schools with a ‘one stop’ whole year reference and planning tool that is intended to:
- Inform of Catholic Traditions that are the base from which all contemporary learning in Catholic schools must emanate
- Provide pre-knowledge of upcoming significant events in the Catholic calendar that impact on the Religious Education programmes of class teachers and school leaders/administrators
- Provide background information about Traditions, Customs and Practices that are connected to the Liturgical seasons of the Church and other significant Catholic celebrations
- Provide ideas and examples of how contemporary pedagogy can be used to design and deliver a modern and meaningful Religious Education Curriculum
- Provide springboards and impetus to enrich the experience of Prayer and Liturgy that invite students and educators into a deeper understanding of Catholic Faith and Tradition.
- Provide easy access to the Scripture references for each day of the Liturgical year enabling educators to plan relevant and meaningful experiences that are aligned with the Lectionary of the Catholic Church.
The Catholic School Educators’ Journal also provides valuable and practical tools for educators in Catholic schools such as:
- Weekly planning overviews for the entire year
- Liturgy planning guidance
- Traditional Catholic Prayers
- Relevant information about significant people connected to the Catholic Tradition
- Background information presented for each school term pertinent to the events (Feasts, Liturgical Season etc) that will occur during that term
